Membership
Membership in It Was A Good Year, Inc., is open to anyone 21 years of age or older. The cost of membership is reasonable and can be found on the membership application (link below). It is a “per family” price (up to 2 persons at same address) per calendar year. The cost of each regular tasting varies between $25 and $55 based on the expenses (wines, food if included, presenter fee, facility rental, etc.). Food-wine pairing events are typically priced higher since the costs are higher.
Download a membership application here (JPG) or here (Word - click on the file in the Downloads folder on your computer and it will open in word).
The Club’s success and longevity have been the result of the work of many people over 4+ decades. No one is paid in this organization, and even the event coordinators pay for their seat at each regular tasting or food-wine event. Finding guest speakers is a continual challenge, and we’re constantly on the lookout for new people who have at least one or two areas of wine expertise. We do pay these people as much as we feel we can, while still keeping the cost of tastings affordable, but for speakers there are a lot of hours of research involved, not to mention building and formatting presentations, finding wines, etc. We encourage our members to help us recruit good speaker candidates.
If you are an IWAGY member and have an interest, please consider attending a Board Planning Meeting and learn more about the process of developing a topic and working with a speaker to help other members broaden their “wine horizons”. Please contact any Board member (see Membership Application for list) to find out about these meetings; typically they are held about 1-4 times per year. Or, if you have a specific topic or speaker that you'd like to run with, one of the IWAGY Board members could assist or ‘mentor’ you in bringing the event to life.
If you are a wine educator or wine trade member and would be interested in making a presentation to our group, please contact one of the Executive Board members.
